Superfly actor, Kaalan Walker, 27, has been found guilty of raping six women, three of which were aspiring 16 year old models, according to Rolling Stone. Walker was also found guilty of sexually assaulting a seventh woman in a string of “sophisticated” serial attacks occurring between 2013 and 2018.
Walke was acquitted of 3 out of the 10 of charges connected to victims, including “two charges of forcible rape.” Walker could be sentenced up to 100 years to life following the guilty verdict. Walker's attorney, Andrew Flier, stated his plan to appeal. “I didn’t rape anybody, your honor. I did not rape anybody,” said Walker.
The Deputy District Attorney, Cynthia Wallace, called Walker a “serial rapist” in her closing argument last week. Reports stated that Walker used Drake’s name to lure in his victims, promising an introduction that never came to be.
“We feel that with this verdict, the jury gave these victims back their voices. This was very sophisticated. He picked these girls and he appealed to their dreams and hopes and name-dropped Drake and used his connection to Halle Berry to get these girls somewhere and gain their trust. Once they were there, it wasn’t about doing photoshoots, it was about assaulting them,” Wallace told Rolling Stone.
Walker’s lawyer told Rolling Stone, “I don’t think he got a fair trial, and the fact that he had three acquittals on three of the victims speaks volumes. I think it will make his appellate issues a lot more meritorious. But I’m disappointed about the verdicts. The defense was precluded from calling witnesses to show the same pattern but no rape. The judge did not allow us to call witnesses about that same issue, but on the reverse.”
Kehlani, who used her platform to uplift the victims whom then spoke out with the allegations leading to this guilty verdict, took to her Instagram to call out Walker and all the people who claimed she was "clout chasing." Recall, Walker attempted to undermine and counter Kehlani reposting victims stories by making false allegations about the singer and their history.
One of Walkers victims took to Instagram to thank those who uplifted her and gave her voice, including Kehlani, to have the strength to speak up and get justice for what was done to her.
