UFC Champ Cain Velasquez has released his 1st statement since he was arrested In March 2022 for allegedly attempting to shoot the man who allegedly molested a child who is a close family member to Velasquez. It is rumored to be Velasquez child is the victim. Following his arrest, UFC fighters and celebrities took to social media and protested at the courthouse demanding Velasquez charges be dropped.
Velasquez took to Twitter to thank fans and his fellow fighters for their support as he fights for his freedom.
The former UFC champion was arrested for premeditated attempted murder after he reportedly shot into a car, aiming for a man Harry Goularte Jr, who was accused of molesting a 4-year-old close relative of Velasquez, but hit someone else in the vehicle. Goularte was riding with his mother and step father. Allegedly, Velasquez followed Goularte for 11 miles before the shooting happened. Prosecutors pushed to have Goularte held without bond yet the judge denied the request. At the time of the shooting, Goularte was on his way to get an ankle monitor after being released from jail awaiting trial.
Velasquez was legally armed. The man accused of molesting a child apparently lived at his mother's home, which also ran as a daycare facility, thus giving the alleged pedofile aple access to the child. He is currently being held without bail. His next plea hearing will be on May 6th.
