Oakland native Ryan Coogler was stunned when cops pulled guns on him and placed him in handcuffs inside a Bank Of America in Atlanta. Coogler was attempting to make a $12,000 legal and discrete withdrawal from his bank account -- and his confusion/outrage fully plays out on police bodycam footage.
In the video obtained by TMZ, the famed director of "Black Panther" and "Creed" is unsure why he was suddenly surrounded by police and then quickly handcuffed and brought out to a squad car. Coogler is then seen asking from a squad car if they had detained his baby nurse and the baby in the car!
Coogler was rightfully emotional and concerned why the police were detaining him and his party. In the video, Coogler told the officers as to why he wrote the note to have the teller "count the money else where, and not on the cash machine." Coogler was trying to avoid other people noticing he was withdrawing a large amount of money.
Shootings and robbery's of celebrities in Atlanta have been on the rise over the years. Thus, celebrities especially need to be cautious and aware. Coogler is in Atlanta currently filming and producing the new 'Black Panther.'
TMZ reached out to Coogler in regards to the January incident to which he responded:
"This situation should never have happened. However, Bank of America worked with me and addressed it to my satisfaction and we have moved on."
