San Francisco's Mayor London Breed announced a new cash incentive program to prevent recidivism. The program would provide a cash allowance for those previously convicted in an attempt to ensure they do not commit crimes, or shoot off guns. The Dream Keeper fellowship is another form of universal basic income via cash incentives if they are not arrested, attend all parole appointments, find a job and more. Those who qualify can earn up to $500 per month in gift cards if all of the qualifications are met.
The program is modeled after Richmond's program which saw a major decrease in gun violence following the launch of the program.
