Man Sentenced To 25 Years For Killing Cellmate Who Raped Little Sister

This story doesn't feel like justice. Shande Goldsby has just been sentenced to an additional 25 years in jail after he killed his cellmate who raped his younger sister.

Robert Munger, who was doing 43 years in prison for child sex crimes, was murdered by Goldsby after the two were placed in the same cell!

"I was in shock," Goldsby said. "I was like, 'what the f***?'... This stuff doesn't happen. You're talking the same institution, the same unit, the same pod in the same cell as this dude. That's like hitting the jackpot in the casino seven times."

Making things worse, Goldsby had requested to move cells yet was denied! Goldsby had reported that the man was taunting him with details and about his sister rape, detailing how he did it with telling Goldsby he had photos and video. Goldsby explains how he was subjected to this information yet feels set up by the prison guards:

"I had so much stuff going on in my head. I wasn't stable at that point. I wasn't.

"I was getting to that point, because [Munger] kept wanting to give me details about what happened, what he did - about the photos and the videos of him doing this stuff. It was building up.

"I was questioning things on what was going on, 'Why is all this going on?' But as I said, I gave my life to God in 2019. I quit gangbanging. I was doing good.

"You put me in the same cell as this dude. I feel set up. I'm the victim."

Goldsby beat Munger unconscious after attacking him from behind, with CCTV recording the assault, which happened at Airway Heights Corrections Center in Washington last year.

Munger died from his injuries three days later.

In a statement, which Goldsby read in court before being overcome by emotion and asking his lawyer to read it for him, he apologised to Munger's family.

He said: "I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose a loved one in this kind of way.

"To his wife and his whole family I apologise. I am so sorry and I hope you are able to heal from what I caused."

He added that he never intended to kill Munger and would have preferred to see him behind bars for the rest of his life.

Goldsby was convicted of murder and sentenced to an additional 25 years after originally serving time for stealing a police patrol car.
