Grammy award winning and multi-platinum artist Khalid sat down with Shay Diddy for the first time since he released his first album. They kicked off the interview discussing his new single "New Normal" and what Khalid has learned about himself during this Covid-19 pandemic. Khalid states his biggest lesson was self love and learning that he was "ok with being with himself." The two then continued discussing the importance of self love transitioning into talking about his highly anticipated album expected this fall, "Everything Is Changing."
"I got the track list, although New Normal contemporary .. it was just a gift for my fans, I feel like I got some bangers."
Shay then asks for details as Khalid states he feels his album is completely elevated because "he's gained confidence" and is confident his fans will be able to receive it as he remained "authentic to himself" and wasn't forced to work on songs or with people.
The two then start discussing features for Khalid's new album, as Khalid tends to not have any features. Khalid then states that he recently started tapping in with a lot of creatives making songs that "have to be released" mentioning Kiana Lede, then Bree Runway.
Khalid then discusses his relationship with Bree Runway and how the two are fans of each other's music, and actually just wrapped up making a song together just the night before this interview! Khalid admits he and Bree Runway had created a "Black Pop Song" that breaks the limited molds for artist.
Khalid then goes on to jokingly discuss the potential of going to space. Shay asks whether Khalid was offered a ticket to go to space as did perform at the Virgin Galactic space launch. Khalid then stated he feels the "talked around" his potential to go to space and how he would have to "come to terms with" his fear of heights before he goes to space.
Khalid's third album is expected to be released this fall.
