Steph and Ayesha Curry are at it again giving back to Oakland communities by investing, along with private investors, a state-of-the-art Family Lab Education Center at the Bushrod Recreation Center on 59th street in North Oakland.
Before the transformation, it was a multipurpose room with outdated computers, no TV, and a shed.
But now it's been completely made over. With new furniture, 10 new laptops, a smart TV and a gaming system.
"No fighting games. Everything is about education and our youth development focus," said Bushrod Recreation Center Director George Henderson.
On the walls are famous quotes of affirmation from everyone from President Barak Obama to the Curry's.
Back inside the rec center's gym, Curry put on a small basketball clinic for the children. The same gym his foundation renovated just last year.
"To be able to come back and to invest in you guys in the education and the resources we have for you to come and have fun with your friends," says Curry.
Although basketball helped pay for the new lab. Everyone at the center agreed, investing in the student's education is the key to success and the education center is just a step in that direction. "I think it symbolizes hope. Hope for the possibility of what we have, what can be and what the future will hold," says Henderson.
All of the children also got some fresh new gear including sneakers, socks, t-shirts, and shorts. Thanks to Curry and his sponsor, Under Armour.
