Stimulus checks have been the talk of the nation this week, as congress continues to vote on the newly proposed $900 billion dollar stimulus package that would either garnish $600 or $2,000 for struggling Americans. "Stimmy's", as they've been dubbed thanks to Twitter, just might end up being sent out to some folks who are no longer breathing!
Earlier this year when the first round of stimulus checks were released a large number of decedents received $1200 checks or direct deposits sent to them. The IRS made often futile attempts to get this money back and has since created a firewall that should limit such an error to a smaller amount of incidents. But, congress is still expecting some checks intended for deceased citizens to slip through the cracks.
