John Shannon Simpson scammed numerous military families out of hundreds of thousands of dollars while claiming to help them get to the happiest place on earth. The 'Marines & Mickey' charity founder scammed military families out of nearly $500k. One Gold Star mother who lost her son to an active shooter at a military center in 2015 donated over $75,000 to the charity thinking that the money would be used to send military families to Disney World! Simpson claimed that the money raised would be used to assist in vacation costs, but in actuality he was pocketing the money for the two years that the charity was active. This is so sad to see someone taking advantage of our military, but thankfully Simpson has been ordered to pay retribution to the families affected. To all of the military service folks & families out there, thank you for your service!
