Irv Gotti claims that Cash Money Records is the finest Hip Hop label of all time.
During a recent interview on the Earn Your Leisure podcast, where he analyzed the potential value of some of the largest rap labels' archives, the creator of Murder Inc. gave Birdman and Ronald "Slim" Williams' business the crown.
Gotti, who earlier this year sold his 50% ownership part in the masters of Murder Inc. to Iconoclast in a $300 million transaction that also included film and television projects, said that the value of Cash Money's multi-platinum discography might reach $1 billion.
Whoever did it best was Birdman? In response to a question from co-host Rashad Bilal, Irv said: "Yeah. There is no denying that Cash Money is the best label out there.
"Consider it. [Raps Juvenile's] "Ha" was released more than, like, 25 years ago? They had been hot the entire time. Nicki and Drake were obtained. The best label ever is them. I don't think anyone comes close to Cash Money.
And Baby and Slim could get a billi if they ever decided to sell, he said. You all will soon receive a billion bucks from someone.
