In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month I decided to share with you all some of my favorite places to go get some awesome "Mexican" food. In no particular rating or order, I'm just listing some random spots I recommend , what to get when your there and why.
This is my go to spot to get a steak plate. Thinly sliced pieces of steak served with rice, refried beans, lettuce, tomato and avocado. if im not eating their steak plate or carne asada plate im getting a burrito.
- Taco Truck by The lake (Taco Mi Rancho)
This is the first taco spot I went to Oakland when I first moved out there and they still hella good. I usually go after clubbing in Oakland. I recommend their steak tacos , or a Chicken Quesadilla w/ rice and sour cream .
- Gordo in North Oakland/Berkeley
Really cant go wrong with Gordos' but These burritos in the Berkeley location are a notch above imo are delicious chicken or steak it don't even matter honestly. did I mention that their meats are very good.
- La Corneta in Diamond Heights in San Francisco
Fresh is what i think of when it comes to this hidden gem in Diamond Heights in the city. I love getting a super baby shrimp burrito from this spot. i love the fact that you can get a regular super burrito or a super baby burrito. its all about the options and the freshness.
- La Pinata in Alameda (La Penca Azul)
Sana G actually put me on to this spot, I love their super steak burrito and I also love the chicken soup, perfect after a long night of clubbing.
- Taco truck by Richmond Bart in Richmond (la Flor De Jalisco)
Steak Burrito is always good, just tell them easy on the onions. Also try the Tortas or the mexican sandwich from here.
Probably the best all around taco in my opinion make sure you try all the sauces too, so good. When i think of this spot i think of long lines and a taco thats almost like a burrito.
This spot is very good, so i would go with the tacos but the steak tacos here with the salsa verde sauce. The salsa verde sauce from there is hella good. When you order the chicken burrito make sure you tell her to give you the salsa verde on the inside of the burrito, to extra toast the tortilla and also to give you the extra hot sauce packets. Her sauces and salsa are so good I always get some to go
