A teen and her family have filed a lawsuit against a school and Instagram for their role in the incarceration of the minor who committed no crime.
The 13 year old girl was using her brother's iPad when a classmate created another Instagram account using the teen's information.
With the new account, the classmate sent threats to kill a teacher and the teacher's family.
The 13 year old was taken from her family for two weeks.
The lawsuit alleges the police failed to promptly investigate this easily discoverable information. It also states Instagram refused to promptly provide or cooperate with the investigating officers which resulted in a 13 year old Black girl being placed in handcuffs and carted away to imprisonment.
