Shoutout to the community for keeping a West Oakland institution that's helped women out for years.
Serenity House had issues with paying their rent after a 75% rent increase put them in a bad situation.
The shelter used grants to pay for the increased rent last year. They were four months behind on paying rent after their landlord gave them until July 20th to pay the $14,000 they owe.
'The rent at the Serenity House residence for unsheltered women has increased by 75%, and we have fallen behind in our rent payments. If we can't pay the shortage by July 20, the women currently sheltered in our program are in danger of becoming homeless again.
YOUR DONATION WILL:
Save the Serenity House Residential Program and KEEP HELP ALIVE! We must cover 4 months of rent to continue to provide housing for unsheltered who are in constant danger of being assaulted, robbed, and trafficked, as they try to survive in the streets of Oakland.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and your donations are tax deductible. We are operated by committed volunteers, so 100% of all donations go directly to providing safe housing for women who need it the most!'
