Earlier today (Jan 25)The state Public Utilities Commission signed off on a $45 million fine against PG&E in relation to the 2021 Dixie Fire, the largest fire in state history. Safty investigators blamed the nearly 1 million acre Dixie Fire on PG&E's delayed response to a 65 foot tall tree fell on a powerline causing an outage on 7/13/2021. In addition, the CPUC found PG&E didn't identify the at risk tree during prior patrols. The settlement includes $40 million in stockholder money to be spent on digitizing PG&E's vegitation management records over five years. the other $5 million will be split evenly between the general fund and payments to groups representing the Greenville Rancheria and the Mountain Maidu Native American tribes.
