Last Week in Oakland, an ATF agent's fully automatic rifle along with ammo and a taser was stolen from their unattended vehicle. By law, Officers are required to lock unattended weapons up.
Yesterday, Oakland City Council member Rebecca Kaplan sent a letter to the ATF office about the recent incident. In the letter Kaplan asked the question, "Have you already, or will you, order your personnel not to leave guns loose where they can fall in the hands of criminals? We have had multiple people lose their lives in Oakland by weapons stolen from unattended law enforcement vehicles."
