Virgil Abloh Responds to Backlash Over $50 Bail Fund Donation

Luxury designer Virgil Abloh is currently receiving a ton of backlash as social media reacts to his $50 dollar donation to an organization that contributes to protestors and their bail fund.

For those unaware of Virgil Abloh's career, he is the CEO of his label Off-White, an artistic designer of Louis Vuitton's menswear, and an inspiring DJ. Being an artist of his caliber, fans and supporters of his work expected much more for him. His boasted donation of $50 was especially not taken well after he openly criticized anyone causing destruction during the protests.

The backlash has clearly gotten to Abloh as he went back on his Instagram story today and posted a message to his followers. He explains, the $50 was simply a part of a donation-match initiative he was doing with his friends.

The donation-match initiative was made so people can bring awareness and encouragement to their peers to donate to bail fund reliefs. Many argued it would still have made more sense for Abloh to encourage his peers to donate a more fitting amount based on their caliber. Abloh has stated that he will be revealing the total amount he's donated, in the not so distant future.
