Lil Uzi Vert is adding some fuel to his most recent project "Futsal Shuffle 2020." What started out as two teaser videos on his Twitter account, Lil Uzi eventually dropped the full music video about a few hours after posting the first clip.
Beyond making seriously catchy trap songs, a large part of Lil Uzi Vert's charm is the fact that he approaches everything he does with unadulterated joy. "Futsal Shuffle 2020" is probably his most joyous project to date. And this is because it isn't simply a song, but an earnest attempt at creating and popularizing a new dance.
Lil Uzi teased the song on November 30, 2019 by posting a video of him dancing to it on his social media and predicted that the #FutsalShuffle would take over in 2020. Videos of fans attempting the dance have been flooding Twitter and Instagram, and while it initially debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 becoming his highest charting solo song since "XO Tour Llif3, the song is currently struggling to find its place on the charts.
The song is an ambitious blend of trap and late 90s EDM, which perfectly suits the hyperactive dance and music video that was created for it. But I wouldn't doubt it gains some momentum again as we forge forward this year. Drawing upon influences we once loved and currently love and creating something uniquely your own is exactly what keeps us interested in music.
