According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has obtained the rights to produce a sequel to the late 1980s franchise Beverly Hills Cop.
"The project comes after a one-time licensing deal between Netflix and Paramount to produce the fourth edition of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise," reports THR. They also revealed that there was a previously planned Beverly Hills Cop 4 scheduled for March 2016 release but Paramount pulled the plug for unspecified reasons.
Fans of the '84, '87, and '94 releases will be happy to know that Eddie Murphy is returning as the Detroit cop Axel Foley, and the director of the first installment, Jerry Bruckheimer, will also return. A release date or information about the rest of the cast has not yet been revealed.
