Megan Thee Stallion's newest release is a track with New Orleans bounce artist VickeeLo called "Ride or Die" and her flow sounds right at home with that iconic Nola sound. The single is in anticipation for the film Queen & Slim which features a screenplay by Emmy award-winning writer and actress Lena Waithe (Masters of None).
The film follows Academy award nominee Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Black Panther) and newcomer Jodie Turner-Smith as they run from the law after shooting and killing an aggressive cop in an act of self-defense. Waithe's screenplay is based off a story by herself and bestselling author James Frey.
Queen & Slim is packed with notable actors like Chloë Sevigny, Bokeem Woodbine, Flea, Indya Moore, and Sturgill Simpson. In addition to Meg and VickeeLo, its accompanying soundtrack features artists from Blood Orange and FKA Twigs to Lauryn Hill and Mike Jones. Director Melina Matsoukas said she "wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul, to modern bounce, hip-hop and R&B."
The film hits theaters November 27th and Queen & Slim: The Soundtrack will drop on November 15th.
