It happened again...
Another instance where a white person called the police because a black man was just doing his job and not causing any trouble.
Michael Hayes is a real estate investor in Memphis, TN, and was on a job inspecting a house that needed repairs, as he came to the house to inspect it, a white woman who lived in the neighborhood demanded to know why he was there.
Hayes explained to the woman that he had a contract on this house to fix it and that he was an investor that was looking at the house. He also went on to tell the woman that he knew the person that owned the home and had written permission to be on the property.
But the woman was still suspicious and decided to call the police on Michael Hayes.
While waiting for the police to arrive, Hayes fired up his camera and began to record his interaction with the woman and the police. In the video you can see that as soon as he starts recording the woman says that he should go into the house and do what he has to do, but Hayes chooses to wait for the police just incase she tries to do something to him.
The police were completely on Hayes' side, which was amazing to see. After awhile the woman began telling the cops that they weren't doing their jobs in which the police responded, "If you have any problems with her, what I want you to do is call me back over here,” the male officer told Hayes. “She will go to jail for that.”
Scrub the video to 5:18 to hear the officer tell Hayes to "keep the camera rolling" and they go on to tell her that Hayes can take all day if he wants to, and she tries to interfere, then they will take her to jail.
We are glad to see that Hayes is safe and the police was on his side through the whole ordeal!
