BART is cracking down in a big way!

Starting on Friday if you don't have a valid ticket for BART you could end up with a fine of $75.

They will be sending out a new inspection fare team to catch people cheating on their fares. and BART officers will be using special readers to check peoples tickets and their clipper cards.

BART estimates it's been losing out on about $25 million dollars a year because of people that cheat on their fares and ride for free. On January 1st BART's board of directors passed an ordinance, which requires everyone to have proof of payment and a valid ticket or clipper card.

These new BART inspectors will be checking each passenger one by one and will also be wearing body cameras.
