It's not everyday that a police sergeant is tasked with removing a skunk's head from a fishing tackle box, but today was Sergeant Ramirez' lucky day.
The Clearlake Police Department took to Facebook to update followers regarding the situation.
"Last night, Sergeant Ramirez came to the aid of a local skunk in need of some assistance. You see, the critter came across a bait box and based on the investigation, it seems this poof of black and white fur became curious as to what treasure was hidden deep inside. In pursuit of potential good eats, the skunk stuck its head a bit too far and became stuck, dragging the box around and unable to remove itâs newfound plastic regalia."
The post also mentioned that because Sgt. Ramirez was extremely careful when handing the skunk, it did not spray him. The skunk was quick to flee the scene after being rescued. The police department jokingly recommended Ramirez as a skunk source following the incident.
"If you have any questions regarding caring for skunks, rescuing them, etc. please contact Sgt. Ramirez. Actually, please donât. Call an expert. But, he has a big heart for animals, so letâs give him a shout out for helping out!"
