San Jose officials are considering a vaccine mandate for all city employees, including the San Jose Police.

Currently in phase 1, the rule for city employees is mandatory testing for those that are unvaccinated. Phase 2 would make vaccines mandatory without the option of weekly testing.

The San Jose Police Union is against this, saying there will likely be push back on a mandate, which will ultimately put the public safety at risk if employees are put on leave or terminated if they refuse. According to NBC Bay Area, there are more than 100 unvaccinated officers.
