With the Berkeley City Council's approval, Berkeley will now be offering vegan options at all public events, jails, senior centers and other city buildings. With this new program, Berkeley is also considering making ALL city-provided meals vegan.

According to SF Gate, the city will make the final decision by 2022. If that decision is in favor of more plant-based vegan food, the city will then start to reduce animal-based product spending by 50% in 2024.

This policy will not impact schools.
