The Community Unites After Attacks Against Asian Elders in OAKLAND & SF

Recent violent attacks against elders in Oakland, San Francisco and Manhattan have added to the rise in Hate Crimes against the Asian Community. These attacks were vicious, especially in the case where one man lost his life. In an effort to silence this violence and bring the community together local businesses, community members and celebrities are rallying together to promote the message of unity against HATE. This is also an opportunity to strengthen community bonds and come together to really make our elders feel safe again as we slowly but surely get back out into this semi-post Covid world. As you are out and about this weekend, safely practicing your social distancing (AHEM-6ft and MASK Please!) possibly joining in the Lunar New Year festivities, you can continue to help make elders feel safe. Join in the healing at the Love Our People: Heal Our Communities Vigil in Oakland Saturday 2/13 or in San Francisco Sunday 2/14- these are both socially distant outdoor gatherings-please wear a mask if you plan to attend in person. Looking for more ways to help reduce the Hate Crimes. You can join the Oakland Chinatown Coalition as a volunteer to help build relationships between the merchants and visitors, as well as foot patrol in Oakland's Chinatown to help elders, or even do your part to pickup trash and help beautify the city.
