Betsy DeVos is the current Secretary of Education for our country, but if thousands of people get their wish, she'll be replaced by LeBron James. An online petition was started this week proposing the change after LeBron's inspiring opening of his 'I Promise' school in Akron, Ohio.
The petition's author said, “LeBron James is an inspiration to kids all over the country. He's shown he cares about America's youth and understands the power of public education in helping children meet their true potential.”
This petition already has over 27,000 signatures and growing by the minute.
LeBron James has always admitted that his decisions were about more than basketball and that was evident this NBA off-season when he signed a 4-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. That was about being part of a long legacy with the Lakers' organization and also setting his own kids up for great education and basketball exposure opportunities in LA.
Beyond basketball, he continues his never-ending quest to not just "shut up and dribble," by speaking up about education, politics and more any chance he can...even though certain people may still take to attacking LeBron and all he speaks to:
Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 4, 2018
No matter what he or other's may think, we have to applaud LeBron James for all that he's doing and all that he stands for. LeBron, we got mad respect, but we all know you still won't beat our Warriors lol.
