According to reports from Alameda officials a sinkhole opened up after recent storms and the break of an underground storm drain. Since this is a major artery repairs will start at 10am this morning and the Posey Tube which connects Alameda and Oakland will be shutdown through midnight tonight. Until 10am commuters can get through the tunnel but there is only one lane open, so expect major delays as they get this repaired. In the meantime, it is suggested that commuters jump on AC transit until the closure goes into effect. Once the closure is in place the Ferry is the best option with boat rides between Alameda and SF and/or South SF. Let's hope they get this fixed by today and there aren't any additional closures of the tube for the rest of the week- as some reports like the one below are saying!
