Blood Piru OG Mob James once worked as a bodyguard for Suge Knight and 2Pac during the height of Death Row Records' popularity and he said the rapper may have been killed by the South Side Crips. According to Mob James, 2Pac sparked the beating of a Crip member that was caught on tape at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas after a Mike Tyson fight. James said, "If 2Pac would have stood to the side and watched, and if Suge would have said, 'No you my money, you ain't finna get in no fight, get over there,' 2Pac would be still alive right now in the day. And this is the only reason why he died, he interfered in something he had no power in."

Shortly after the brawl in Vegas took place, 2Pac was shot while in the passenger seat of a vehicle with Suge Knight. The two were on the way to Club 662. Because of the gunshot wound, 2Pac passed away six days later. James noted that Orlando Anderson, the man 2Pac stomped out at the MGM Grand got revenge and killed 2Pac. The Blood Pirus were looking to find Anderson but were not able to locate him. Anderson was shot and killed in 1998.
