California Car Chase Suspect Hospitalized After Crashing During Pursuit

A high-speed chase in Clovis, California, ended in a crash, leaving the suspect hospitalized. The suspect, whose name has not been released, will reportedly be arrested once discharged from the hospital.

The incident began early Monday morning when a Fresno County Sheriff's deputy attempted to pull over a car at Clinton and Cedar, per ABC 30. The driver, however, sped off, leading the deputy on a chase. The pursuit ended when the driver hit a curb and crashed into a tree near Jefferson in Clovis.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, the driver was a 14-year-old boy, Your Central Valley reports. The car he was driving, a stolen KIA, was first spotted around 2 a.m. in the Mayfair District in central Fresno. The chase continued eastbound on Clinton Avenue, with the driver reaching speeds of around 80 miles per hour.

The driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries, but his current condition has not been released. The Clovis Police Department is handling the crash investigation.

As a result of the incident, Clovis Avenue was closed in both directions between 9th and Jefferson. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes, causing traffic disruptions in the area. The incident marks a serious event in the usually quiet community of Clovis.
