We're just a few weeks away from Juneteenth and preparation for the celebration has already begun! Although, not everyone's idea of celebration is on the right page or has the community's feelings in mind. It was just last year that Juneteenth was deemed a Federal holiday, so this is the first year a lot of companies are officially joining in the celebration. This year Walmart decided to commemorate the holiday with the release of an Ice Cream as a part of their celebration series which also apparently included party plates. The Juneteenth ice cream featured red velvet and cheesecake flavors and has since been pulled after Walmart received complaints on social media that the release was not only not well thought out but insensitive. They have since apologized - but the damage has been done and instead of highlighting products from black owned companies or offering more of these items at their stores, they decided to release their own products. All the products are reportedly being taken off shelves and thrown out.
